New patients at North Portland Dental Care can expect an in-depth review of their oral health in complete comfort. From your first visit and on, we treat you as a whole person and not just a set of teeth.

We take the time to get to know you and personalize your visit so that you can enjoy a stress-free and anxiety-free appointment. Here’s what to expect with our modern family dentistry:

  • Our team typically reserves 1.5-2 hours for your initial appointment and only sees one patient at a time.
  • We’ll review your concerns and dental goals, plus your medical history, diet, sleep quality, and stressors and discuss how everything is connected (what we call “integrative dentistry”.)
  • We’ll take a set of digital x-rays and photos or a digital scan of your teeth and take you on a “virtual tour” of your mouth.
  • You’ll receive a gentle, thorough teeth cleaning appropriate for your periodontal health, and helpful advice to improve your home care.
  • Dr. Watson will complete a comprehensive exam and share his findings and recommendations. He’ll take the time to make sure you understand everything so you can make fully informed decisions about your care.

  • What are your payment options?

    We accept checks, cash, debit cards, and all major credit cards. In addition, we offer financing through our partner CareCredit. CareCredit offers many interest-free options and extended payment options with interest.

    If you need another option, then please ask. We will work with you to find a solution that meets your needs for affordable dental care.

  • Do you take my insurance?

    Our Portland dental office is in-network with Delta Dental Premier and accepts most other commercial dental plans. We’re happy to process your insurance claims and help you maximize your insurance benefits.

    Benefit levels and acceptance vary from plan to plan, so please make sure to call your insurance provider to get all the details before you come in.

    If you’re insured through the Oregon Health Plan or an HMO or Dental HMO plan such as Kaiser Permanente or Willamette Dental, you may be required to see a provider in your network.

  • Do you offer any discounts?

    Yes, we offer discounts for uninsured patients and seniors.

    Uninsured patients are eligible for a 5% discount when paying by cash or check for visits over $400.

    We also offer a 5% senior discount for patients who are 65 and over.

  • Can you bill me later?

    As in many offices, we request payment at the time of service. This not only allows us to pay our own bills, but it allows you to go home knowing that you’re squared away.

    As a courtesy, if you have dental insurance, we’ll do our best to estimate what your insurance will cover and will only ask you to pay your estimated portion on the day of service.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    We kindly ask for 48 hoursʼ notice if you need to change or cancel an appointment. This allows us to contact other patients who wish to be seen at that time.

    Because it is difficult to fill openings on short notice, appointments that are missed or canceled with less than 24 hoursʼ notice are subject to a $100 late cancellation fee.
